Everybody loves good music – but what about bad music? Why do godawful guilty pleasures and stinking sacred cows still occupy our mind? What do truly terrible tracks tell us about who we are? Those are the questions longtime crate-digger/honcho of acclaimed marketing firm Giant Step Maurice Bernstein wanted answers when he reached out to renowned music journalist Matt Diehl (Rolling Stone, New York Times, et al) to collaborate on a podcast airing out music’s worst songs.

Hence Disinfect was born, with its first season devoted to the worst cover songs ever. As such, in Disinfect Episode 1 – entitled “The Worst Joy Division Cover Ever?” Bernstein and Diehl tear apart Paul Young’s pop-soul pastiche of “Love Will Tear Us Apart” with equal doses of hilarity and severity.
